Another Thanksgiving is upon us! Out of all the holidays, Thanksgiving is one of my favorites. It’s less consumer-driven than other holidays despite the retail market’s best efforts, the weather isn’t super cold, I get extra days off from work, people type what they’re grateful for all month long online, and there’s tons of delicious ... That's right, you read that headline correctly. By quitting my job, or in corporate office jargon “resigning my position”, I am turning down the opportunity to earn at least 2.7 million dollars. (Based on my current salary and assuming I wouldn't get raises or promotions.) That's like getting a lottery ticket, winning, saying no thanks, pouring lighter ... Read more ...

It's time for another update on my awesome phone plan, Google's Project FI. I wrote one post when I switched and another post last year with my impressions of the plan. As a quick recap, I was on a grandfathered unlimited data plan with Verizon until late 2015 when they announced they were jacking up ... Read more... ...

At last! Gwen writes her recap of FinCon 2017! I know you all were losing sleep all week waiting for it, so without further ado…. my recap! Now, I'm not going to get super into the details this year. It's not going to be an epic 4500+ word post where I write about each person I met (cough Fritz cough) although I would absolutely love to do so. Instead, I'm just ...

As previously discussed in my Chautauqua recap post, I had a really amazing time hanging out with new and old friends, taking in the beautiful scenery, and learning some pretty interesting things. I covered the friends and scenery in the last post, so…….. time to talk about the lessons I learned! Lesson 1 Our host Cheryl gave a presentation on happiness and finding your purpose in life. This was useful to me ...

[contact-form] [contact-form] Sidenote: I write this from Dallas! Things are heating up down here as FinCon finally approaches. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and learning lots of things. Responses to emails, tweets, and comments will probably be delayed. There will be a new post next Monday, though. Stay tuned! I’ve recently returned from the beautiful Ecuador where I spent a week in paradise at the Chautauqua! For those of you who don’t know what a Chautauqua is, the original definition comes from the book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: “…an old-time series of popular talks intended to edify and entertain, improve the ...
