I've talked a fair amount in the past about my old car. It was a 2005 Pontiac Vibe. I bought the car for $8,000 cash in 2011 after a deer killed the Neon I was driving. Honestly, it was the best thing to happen to me.  I had the Vibe for 6 years and put just about 100,000 miles on it. In that time, I replaced a few tires, the serpentine ...

This post may include affiliate links. Please see my disclaimer page for more information. When I was younger, I would spend hours upon hours reading books. All sorts of books from YA fiction to biographies to random books like Monopoly strategies (I needed. This love of reading continues today, even though I don't get to get lost in a new book for hours anymore. So, when someone emailed me and said, “hey, ...

I find it best to do a monthly status report for a few reasons. It helps me evaluate how I did the previous month. Did I hit a target reduction in spending or did I go way over budget for a particular category? Did I earn more? What was my ...

I've starting listening to a lot more podcasts and audio books now that I'm driving 5+ hours to see my boyfriend. It's more productive and just about as entertaining as doing car-eoke. (But way easier on my voice!) These podcasts and audio books aren't just for entertainment, though. I wanted to put the time to good use. So far, I've listened to a book on starting side hustles while employed full-time, ...

This is done. Paint bubbles and drips galore. As chronicled in my 3 Month Update and Bugs, Thugs, and Hugs posts, I had some work done on my house this summer. Notice I didn't say anything about the quality of the work. I deliberately left that descriptor out as it turns out my contractor was closer to the “should never be allowed to work on a home improvement project for money ever again” ...

I typically update my long-term projections each year around late spring. Due to the fact someone pressed the fast forward button on my year, I'm updating it now instead! If you're unfamiliar with my 10 year plan series, you can catch up by reading 2015's iteration and 2016's post before you continue with 2017. I didn't really plan on turning this into a series, but it's definitely fun to look back ...

Very few people can try out a new skill and be perfect from the start. Sadly for my inner type A perfectionist personality, I am not one of those people. I've tried a number of new activities lately and sucked at the vast majority of them. But you know what? It's perfectly ok to suck at something. The important part is having the courage to try something new, sticking with said activity- not giving up ...
