Jana Says and Surviving and Thriving have started a trend with posts about the half dozen good things happening in their lives.  Since complaining is easy, and I do a lot of it, I loved the idea of just being thankful.  Here are my six specific good things right now… 1. Our daughter is kicking me now! I don’t have to use the fetal heart monitor every night to assure ...

I’ll file this post in the category “because having a baby isn’t expensive enough”… Know how I mentioned that my husband and I prefer to buy new or nearly new cars, ride them into the ground, and start over'  Well, I might not have been crystal clear that our definition of “riding them into the ground” is a bit lazy.  We like to ride them for 9-10 years and move ...

It’s been an expensive week.  I’m officially brainstorming ideas for a baby-related side hustle. We Bought a Car Hubby’s 2007 Prius decided that anti-lock brakes weren’t necessary for its existence last Tuesday.  While technically true, isn’t helpful for a couple having a baby.  It made it a nice 178,000 miles and could go further with a $2100 repair.  But I’ll leave that to the next lucky owner. We waived the ...

For anybody new, I’m 20-21 weeks pregnant as of right now.  I’ve been blogging about personal finance, budgeting, and my life in general here since February 2010.  And I just joined a few mommy Facebook groups in the last few weeks to help myself prepare for what is coming and to start building support networks since only a couple of our friends have kids.  Main New Mommy Group Topics Here ...

I’ve always known that babies grow quickly, so buying everything brand new was not going to be my path.  But I also know that many of my friends and family want to help out.  And listing what I still need will let me know what I’m missing when I’m about to pop, hence creating an Amazon registry I am editing as we go… Spending Restrictions Until May Since I know ...

Wow…2017, I barely knew you!  I’ll admit, with all the baby-making ups and downs last year, I did not pay attention to much of anything else except in spurts.  But let’s see what happened… 2017 New Year’s Resolutions 1. Be a Healthy Baby Incubator.  CHECK I was honestly a healthier baby incubator during the three miscarriages than now, which is a baby chugging right along anyway!  BUT, I’m taking my ...

Hope your holidays were awesome!!!  I’ve been feeling truly loved and lucky.  I think these past few weeks have been some of the best of my life.  I had a great trip overnight with my family and had a really good time with my parents, one of my uncles, and one of my sisters and her family.  I’m very proud of my other sister who was hard at work at ...

I’m finally not puking all of the time!!!  Yay!!!  Woot for being one of the lucky ones that get a reprieve for a little bit!!!  14 Week Ultrasound We went in for another quick ultrasound late last week and Peanut is developing well!  We could hear the heartbeat at 160 beats per minute (right on track) AND my little parasite was just squirming and kicking away just like last time.  ...

So, I’m 13 weeks pregnant and am finally having a couple of days in a row where I’m nauseous occasionally but haven’t been throwing up.  Woot!  Did I write several posts so I could finally not feel behind on the blogging'  Nope.  Did I try to grow the pet sitting business in some miraculous way'  Nope.  Did I find a path to world peace or do the million errands pregnant ...

December can be slightly depressing if you are one of those people, like us, who don’t escrow their property taxes.  That means that our monthly mortgage total is always identical but we have to pay our own property tax bills each year.  Escrowing means having the mortgage lender estimate the annual taxes, include that in the monthly payments due, and then change the monthly payment the following year based on ...
