The Genius Options Trade that Saved Mark Cuban Billions of Dollars If you’ve ever watched Shark Tank you’ve probably heard the intro to the show introduce the “billionaire investors” including Mark Cuban.  But not many people know how Cuban made those billions or how he employed a genius options strategy to prevent his billions from turning into nothing during the dotcom crash at the end of the 90’s. In this post I’ll ...

Better but Still Underperforming the S&P Early in 2017 I decided I was going to take $10k from my Roth IRA in Vanguard and use it to trade options.  I’ve always had an itch for making speculative investments and I’ve wanted to try options trading for a long time. After basically breaking even with $10k I decided to move over another $10k as well as $3k that was in my wife’s Roth ...

September was a weak month.  Competition continues to increase and some of my best selling products went out of stock so I had one of my lowest months in a while. Profit for the month was just over $2,000 which was good but I’ve already launched 2 new products this month which cost about $1,500 so that profit is already gone, reinvested into new items.   Here’s what my sales and profit looked ...

Not All Side Hustles are Created Equal I’ve talked extensively in the past about my side hustle which is selling physical products on Amazon.  I stumbled upon this a few years ago and luckily it’s one of the best side hustles out there in my opinion.  Some people stumble upon other side hustle ideas and unknowingly get stuck in a dead end path.   There’s a lot of content online about side ...

Side Hustle Update – $16,393 in Sales.  $2,748 in Profit August was another solid month for my Amazon FBA business.  Everything is humming along nicely and there haven’t been too many changes.  I’ve decided to go back to the basics which is just launching more products.  I’ve got 3 new products launching this month.  I expect them to add around $5k per month in sales and keep a 20% margin so ...

Managing Cashflow Sucks My profit for this month came in at around $1,700, not bad for about 10 hours of work!  My most recent product I launched on Amazon was a new, unique type of sunglasses but unfortunately it’s not doing very well.  I’m selling for around $30-$40 but the competition is so insane that my advertising fees are eating up all of my profit.  It sucks because I have a ...

Selling on Amazon for Passive Income On Thursday morning I started the drive down to Virginia, staying just outside of Washington D.C. for a wedding.  I love hiking and backpacking and found a park right by our hotel called Prince William Park which is a national forest.  I got out there at 5PM and was greeted by this awesome view as we entered the trailhead for an evening hike. I went on ...

May 2017 Results – $17k in Sales and $4k in Profit May saw a dip in sales from last month which was over $20k.  I had several products go out of stock and I’m waiting for the new stock to arrive.  I also had 2 new products launch this month which are both selling well so far and took some huge expenses last month to get them shipped to the Amazon ...

Outsourcing the Grunt Work Creating a niche site as a side hustle can be a great way to earn some extra income on the side.  The best part is once you have the site built up, you don’t have to keep working on it to earn money.  It will make money around the clock, even when you’re asleep or at your day job. The hard part is getting to the point where ...
