I decided I would start a new monthly series on the blog about monthly financial updates. It could be another way to keep us accountable although I think we are already used to the routine and have learned extreme self-discipline. It’s hard to believe the end of October is already here. Today is also Halloween. We have celebrated in no way whatsoever. We did try … ...

This weekend M and I went to the gun range to get some target practice in. Back in May M had bought me a Smith & Wesson 9mm hand gun at a Ducks Unlimited charity auction. This weekend was the first time I got to finally use it. At first I was a worried it would hurt my wrist but it turned out to be … ...

We’ve all heard that statistic that says “The most common cause of divorce is disagreements over money.” While this may very well be true, it doesn’t have to be true for you. Mike and I have always been on the same page about money and finances from day 1. A month after we started dating I gave him the Dave Ramsey financial peace CD set … ...

After a short hiatus, I am back to blogging. Lots to report in this one post so I’ll try to hit the highlights.  A while back, we went on a family ride, minus Emily who was in Illinois. Very enjoyable and Jessica was like a dream horse compared to her crazy younger years.  Mike and Hank got along like two peas in a pod.  Mike … ...

Since I sit in an office all week I like to be outdoors and be as active as possible on the weekends. Mike had gotten me a new bike for my birthday so this weekend was the perfect time to finally try it out. We went on the new river trail which is just a few miles from our house. The trail is about 50 … ...

The flowers have finally started blooming. At least what little amount I have.  This yard was pretty much a blank canvas last year so I think good progress has been made so far.  Last Saturday was spent planting, pruning, and mulching the yard.  These are lilies that I planted last summer.  I think I did a pretty good job of trimming the bushes. Also I … ...
