When I used to watch finance shows on cable TV one particular pundit used  to reach a segment where he’d devote a little time to talking about the  recommended size of a portfolio. This segment usually resulted in me shaking my head in bewilderment when he always made the recommendation of sticking to about 5 diverse […] The post OMI-word…when a 27 year dividend aristocrat cuts its payout.. appeared first on DIVIDEND ...

If I was to put together a poll of the people I’ve met who wanted to be Financially Independent versus those that don’t then the answers would most definitely mainly consist of those that live in the “don’t” camp. Some are actually quite curiously aggressive in their response which can sometimes come across odd, I […] The post Why I couldn’t care less about FIRE critics.. appeared first on DIVIDEND NOMAD. ...

As we reported in the previous post it’s been a bit of a hectic purchasing month for us in our dividend stock portfolio so this October income report will be the last for a while, at least until we can give the new trades in the portfolio a chance to settle. Since we’ve documented 3 […] The post October FIRE income report : Hurray for NRZ month!! appeared first on DIVIDEND ...

Well we said October would be our first time back investing and boy did we return with a bang, we pretty much turned into financial shopaholics overnight. The markets decided to punish most of the stocks on our long term watchlist due in no small part to the uncertainty lingering from the threat of a full-on […] The post Confessions of a Dividend shopaholic – October trades appeared first on DIVIDEND NOMAD. ...

So for anyone who’s visited the United Kingdom on vacation or live there then I do understand that you probably think I have lost my mind to imply that the place is cheap in any way, shape or form. Now that we have left for the winter though it is time to gather together some thoughts, […] The post Case Study : The UK as a low budget FIRE location…. appeared first ...

Growing up in the UK we used to despise the onset of winter with a passion, snow and ice on a daily basis trying to make your way to school and later trying to drive to work. Commuting in treacherous icy conditions with dark mornings and dark evenings where you barely ever saw daylight for months […] The post Snowbirding – The ultimate FIRE lifestyle appeared first on DIVIDEND NOMAD. ...

After an exhausting flat-out week we’ve finally finished up the apartment ready for our monday flight to Cyprus. Only yesterday we actually moved in and finished the place off so that Jr now has curtains and a functional kitchen and bathroom in our absence, completing a couple of months’ worth of work in one week. Taking possession of our latest (read…very old) fixer investment property this past week has been the first time in over a year that it’s really felt like being back working at Flight Test, rushing around solving problems to get the planes airborne. In a much more pleasant way obviously though because working on property isn’t […] The post Buying undervalued rundown investment property : If at first you don’t succeed… appeared ...

We’d like to start this post on a very positive, happy note because that’s how we’re feeling right now both as investors and in the fortunate position to be  FIRE’d. As you’ll see below the organic dividend growth across the portfolio for the past month came in at $41.28 more than the figure for last […] The post September FIRE income report : The raises keep coming… appeared first on DIVIDEND ...
